The challenge
Satellite components need dependable validation, but exhaustive semiconductor testing can be costly. SpaceSilicon-AI addresses the need for more accessible testing of mission-critical microelectronics.

A modular testing platform
Supported by RVO’s MIT R&D collaboration grant, the partnership combines SPHERICAL’s semiconductor-design expertise with Balthazar’s AI and cloud-based testing capabilities.
The collaboration focuses on a modular, fully automated test platform connected to a cloud-based data pipeline. Machine-learning algorithms are intended to help classify and predict component reliability, supporting adaptable testing and shared data management.

The project ambition
The announcement sets an ambition to reduce semiconductor testing costs by 80%. This is presented here as the collaboration’s target, not an independently verified result.
The wider aim is to make reliable hardware validation accessible to more space missions and support the development of next-generation space microelectronics.
